Discover the Healing Benefits of Light
Red Light Therapy is a process of emitting light wavelengths through the skin to stimulate your body's natural healing and regeneration processes.
While originally developed by NASA many years ago to keep astronauts healthy in space, red light therapy is now gaining popularity as a tool for pain relief, athletic recovery, skin beautification and much more.
When delivered within the optimal wavelengths, red and near-infrared light protect your body’s cells from nitric oxide damage (oxidative stress), which can otherwise stop the cell’s production of cellular energy (ATP). If the production of cellular energy is impaired, this can lead to inflammation, poor cellular detoxification and poor circulation -- which negatively impact human health in many ways.
Red light photons allow your cells to continue utilizing oxygen effectively by minimizing the absorption of nitric oxide. Only red light therapy can reach all the way into a cell’s mitochondria (the "powerhouses" of the cells) to stimulate healing and regeneration to help improve your appearance, performance, and overall well-being.

FAQs about Red Light Therapy
How does it work?
When exposed to red and near-infrared light a part of your cells called mitochondria, often called the “power generators” of your cells, soak it up and make more energy. During this process of creating energy, cellular respiration helps to release waste at the cellular level as well, resulting in a natural detoxification process.
What conditions can red light therapy help?
Red light therapy is FDA cleared for the treatment of pain conditions. It helps pain by lowering inflammation in the body and increasing circulation. It is also FDA cleared for skin beautification because it increases collagen and elastin to help tighten and tone skin and the anti-inflammatory effects help with other skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Despite being cleared by the FDA for those two conditions, red light therapy has universal body benefits due to its action of lowering inflammation, increasing cellular respiration and turnover and also increasing energy in the body at the cellular level. Currently, thousands of studies exist on red light therapy benefits for numerous conditions.
According to red light therapy expert Ari Whitten, red light therapy can benefit:
How often should I get treatment?
Red light therapy has a cumulative effect and the best results are based on having a series of sessions. Think of it like going to the gym for your cellular health - consistency is key! While you will likely see improvements even after one session, the best results will come with sustained use. Starting with 2-4 times per week if you're intending to benefit a condition such as pain, skin conditions, low energy or other health concerns is a good place to start. After the first few weeks, you can back off to 1-2 times per week, and after a while longer as you notice improvement you can back off to more of a maintenance dose of once or twice a month. You really can't get too much red light therapy, so you can receive it as often as you like to feel your best.
What do I wear during a session?
You'll want to fully expose areas being treated to the light. Your light therapy session will be delivered in a locked and private room, so you can dress down to your comfort level.
How long is a session?
Our sessions are 20 minutes which allow for whole-body exposure to the light.
How close do I stand to the light?
To treat skin conditions and skin beautification: 18-24 inches away from the panels
To treat pain and for optimizing cellular health: 8-14 inches away from the panels
What about my eyes?
While some experts do use red light therapy for eye conditions, our full-body panels aren't designed for this. We recommend not looking directly into the lights and wearing tanning goggles or dark sunglasses during your session. We have goggles you can borrow, or you can bring your own sunglasses.
Will I get a tan?
No, the wavelengths in our red light therapy panels contain no UV light - the light that causes skin to darken.
Are there any side effects?
LED Red Light Therapy is extremely safe and generally produces no side effects. However, occasionally side effects may occur, which are generally mild and short-lived. These may include temporary tightness or redness in those with sensitive skin. Occasionally pain, itching or uncomfortable warmth may occur for a short period after the session due to enhanced circulation. Again, side effects if they do occur are generally mild and short lived.
Who should not get red light therapy?
If you're pregnant, you should skip full-body red light therapy, especially over your belly (it is safe over the face, as in our facial treatments). If you are in active cancer treatment, please consult with your oncologist before receiving red light therapy, as it could interfere with treatment (though some doctors even use infrared light to treat certain cancers). If you are sensitive to light or get headaches or migraines triggered by light, it's probably best to skip this treatment.
